About

Who am I?

My name is Bruno Martins, I was born in 1989 and I have been working in IT since 2008.

Personal life

My main personal interests vary between hanging out with my girlfriend and friends, listening to extreme (mostly, Metal) music, enjoying food, learning about technology, society, and economics, playing football, and playing some games once in a while.

Professional career

Here is a quick LinkedIn-style representation of my years in IT until today (except that LinkedIn does not offer you the inner details).

Galileu (2008-2012)

Mainly focused on helpdesk tasks. It was also where I started in the world of server management, mainly focused on Windows. I was part of a three-person IT team and got hired right after finishing my traineeship. I got to know Microsoft Windows quite well and managed some of the following technologies:

  • Microsoft Windows Server 2003 & 2008
  • Microsoft Virtual Server
  • Microsoft Virtual PC
  • Microsoft ISA Server 2006
  • Microsoft Exchange Server 2003
  • Samba and CUPS running on Debian

Rumos (2012-2016)

Something goes on here.

ITEN Solutions (aka Claranet) (2016-2019)

Something goes on here.

CGI (2019-2020)

At CGI I was assigned almost 100% to a big private sector company in Portugal and was part of my first “DevOps” team, where we were focused on Capacity Management of IT systems, so I learned technologies from all segments of IT like storage, networking and virtualization.

Gfi Portugal (aka Inetum) (2019-2022)

The role here was called “Senior IT Consultant” and I was delivering IT projects to customers from all sectors working with vendors like Microsoft, Check Point, Cisco, and also open-source solutions.

EMCDDA (2022-present)

I am now working for an EU agency based in Portugal administering most of the IT systems and helping the institution carry out its business which is studying the details of drugs.
